Wānaka and Queenstown are perfect places to elope, with so many incredible options for your ceremony. Mountain and heli weddings, lakeside beaches, woodland settings, riverbanks and remote spots with spectacular views — there are plenty of ways to make your elopement completely your own.
Your Elopement, Your Way
An elopement does not have to mean sneaking away in secret or giving up all the things that make a wedding special. It can simply mean choosing a more intimate way to celebrate your marriage, with the focus firmly on the two of you.
You might want to exchange your vows somewhere completely private, take a helicopter into the mountains, say “I do” beside the lake, or choose a beautiful location that has special meaning to you. Whatever you have in mind, I will help you create a ceremony that feels personal and memorable.
Just the Two of You — or a Few Special People
The legal process is similar to any other wedding, although you do not need a large group of guests. You will need two witnesses to your marriage.
Some couples bring a couple of close friends or family members, while others really do want it to be just the two of them. If you are travelling to Wānaka or Queenstown and do not have witnesses with you, I can help arrange witnesses for your ceremony.
Making It Personal
Even though an elopement may be small, your ceremony can still be full of all the things that make it yours.
We can include your own vows, readings, music, special traditions or anything else that has meaning to you. I will get to know you both and write a ceremony that reflects your relationship, rather than giving you something that feels like it has been pulled from a template.
There is something pretty special about standing in an amazing location, with just the people who matter most, and making that commitment to each other.
